In 2012, Elvin started Colorado Funeral Services, LLC. It is an offsite crematory to better serve his clients, as well as those of other mortuaries in the Denver area.

In February 2019, Elvin sold the Caldwell-Kirk Mortuary and Colorado Funeral Services to the Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary.

He later became a member of the alumni chapter, Delta Psi Lambda and during his young adult life was very active and enjoyed hosting meetings at his home and participating on a regular basis.

OUTSIDE INTERESTS

Elvin is an avid spectator of the Denver Broncos, the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Rockies sports teams. He shares season ticket to Rockies games with three other friends.

He enjoys skiing and tennis and especially trips to the mountains.

Elvin has always been especially proud of his late mother and father and their impact on his life. Several years ago he founded the Caldwell Family Foundation in memory of his mother, Frank Harriette Caldwell and his father, Elvin R. Caldwell, Sr. It is a 501© 3 nonprofit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service for charitable, educational, religious literary and scientific purposes. His wife Jeanne and son Terrence serve on the board.  He and Jeanne have presented scholarships to a number of high school seniors over the last three years at their church.

Elvin enjoys travel. In his younger adult life he loved trips with his children: Tamara, Deborah and Terrence. In more recent years he has traveled with his wife Jeanne. Their trips have included cruises to the Caribbean; the Mediterranean Sea with stops in Spain, France and Rome, Italy; and the Baltic Sea with stops in Germany, St. Petersburg, Russia. They have enjoyed a number of trips to Mexico, particularly, Cabos San Lucas. The highlight of his travel was in 2013 on a trip with his pastor the Rev. Dr. Timothy E. Tyler and fellow church members to South Africa to learn of Social Justice and the life of Nelson Mandela and work abolishing the Apartied system. He spent extra days to visit Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana to take land and water cruises to see and appreciate the wild life of Africa. A visit to Victoria Falls was spectacular, as was, Cape Town, South Africa.
